The Darwin Year 2009

In 2009 we are celebrating the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth (12. February) and the 150th anniversary of the publication of one of the most important books in the history of science: Darwin’s 'On the Origin of Species' (24. November).
We welcome you all to the events marking this double anniversary throughout the year!
The events will cover not only Charles Darwin himself, but also his contemporaries who inspired him – like Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck, Thomas Malthus and Alfred Russel Wallace – current topics in biology, the influence of the theory of biological evolution on other fields of science – like economy and robotics – the still existing opposition to science and more.
